Prof Domenico Mavilio

Prof. Mavilio Mavilio, (M.D., Ph.D.) is a clinical/experimental immunologist and Full Professor of Translational Medicine at Medical School of the University of Milan “La Statale”, Italy. As Principal Investigator, he leads the Unit of Clinical and Experimental Immunology at Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan (website: https://www.labmavilio.it)

As physician, prof. Mavilio focuses his clinical activities in handling patients affected by immune-mediated disorders such as autoimmune diseases, chronic viral infections and immune-monitoring of haematologic/solid malignancies. As a physician-scientist, he handles research projects from the “bed-to bench” side by coordinating several programs of translational immunology and by merging his clinical activities with experimental programs. In particular, his research activities are focused to study the pathophysiology and clinical applications of innate immune responses in the above-mentioned models of diseases. Prof. Mavilio’s studies contributed to identify new human NK cell unconventional populations that, in turn, paved the ground to the “memory-like” investigations of NK cell responses.
