Professor Todd Fehniger

Dr. Fehniger is a Professor of Medicine Washington University School of Medicine.  He trained from 1994-2002 as a medical and graduate student in the laboratory of Michael Caligiuri, and from 2005-2008 as a post-doctoral fellow with Timothy Ley.  Since 2008, Dr. Fehniger has led an independent group focused on the development and functional NK cells and ILCs spanning basic mouse models, human immunology, and early phase clinical trials.  His contributions to the field include advancing the immunobiology of human NK cells subsets, understanding IL-15 and other cytokines, mechanisms of cytokine-induced NK cell memory, engineering NK cell programs and receptors, and translation of these findings as drugs and cellular therapies for cancer patients.  At WashU, he serves as the Laboratory Director of the Center for Gene and Cellular Immunotherapy, Co-Leader of the Hematopoietic Development and Malignancies Program of the Siteman Cancer Center, and Director of the Biological Therapy Facility of the Siteman Cancer Center. He is the President of the Society for Natural Immunity serving from 2022-2025.
